The Lorna Doone Country of Devonshire, England. The story-telling of Lorna Doone Country of Devonshire, England by Dr. Edward M. Gallaudet. Part of George Veditz's Preservation of Sign Language series. Dr. Edward Gallaudet told of a love story between Lorna Doone and John Ridd which came from a book to encourage other deaf people to read books. Dr. Gallaudet explained the reason behind the telling of this story as a desire to help deaf people to be able to succeed in America.
