A new name for the Museum!
Effective immediately, the Gallaudet University Museum will be known as the National Deaf Life Museum at Gallaudet University. The selection of the new name was a collaborative effort between National Deaf Life Museum staff, the campus community, and alumni. A formal rededication ceremony will be held during Homecoming weekend, October 25-27.
President Cordano keynotes sign language conference in Norway
President Cordano was the keynote presenter at the How Sign Language Matters conference held yesterday and today in Oslo, Norway. This conference brought together politicians, researchers, teachers, school leaders, and administrators to discuss how to strengthen sign language competence in society. Dr. Joseph Murray of the Department of American Sign Language and Deaf Studies (far right) served as conference moderator. Dr. Melissa Herzig of VL2 (second from right) and Dr. Deborah Chen Pichler of the Department of Linguistics (third from right) also presented. Loriel Dutton (far left) and Kari Bahl (second from left) interpreted at the conference.
General counsel search process underway
As announced in early March, Gallaudet has created two new positions to direct and manage the legal affairs of the university. The General Counsel position will be filled first, followed by the Assistant General Counsel position. The search committee consists of Marianne Belsky, chair; Gaurav Mathur, Sharrell McCaskill, Christina Shen-Austin, and Elizabeth Stone.

Amy Malm becomes Dean of the Gallaudet University Library on Monday, June 17. Please join us for a welcome reception on Monday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the National Deaf Life Museum!
Reminder: A special gift!
