Macbeth. A tragedy that is written by William Shakespeare. A wounded soldier returns from battle, informing King Duncan that Macbeth and Banquo killed the enemy at Norway. King Duncan decided to reward Macbeth by making him “Thane of Cawdor.” Three witches met Macbeth and Banquo upon their return from the war, they predict that Macbeth will become a king and that Banquo’s sons will inherit the kingdom. Macbeth and his wife plot to kill King Duncan so that Macbeth can become a king. They murdered King Duncan, and then Lady Macbeth framed the dead King’s guards while they were sleeping. Macbeth becomes a king. Due to the three witches’ prophecy, King Macbeth kills Banquo, but his son Fleance escapes. King Macbeth is haunted by the ghost of Banquo. Lady Macbeth’s guilty conscience torments her, and then commits suicide. A nobleman, Macduff killed Macbeth, and Malcolm becomes a king.
