Dr. Eugene Mirus of the ASL/Deaf Studies Department moderated a panel discussion on the documentary film Stonewall Uprising. (Due to copyright restrictions, the film is not shown in this YouTube). Stonewall Uprising chronicles the 1969 police raid and ensuing riots at the Stonewall Inn in New York City's Greenwich Village.
According to many LGBTQA leaders and scholars, the riots mark the beginning of the Gay Civil Rights Movement. Although LGBTQ acceptance has improved since the time of the Stonewall riots, the struggle for equality continues to this day.
